Afternoon Questions
Questions: (1) Unclear about questioning: I think my initial “What am I aware of is superficial”; i.e. bird signing, weather, tight gut (2) Sometimes merely employing the note or question “aware” does not seem to be associated with an experience of known or felt awareness. It can seem like it’s glancing on the surface. Suggestions? I understand that it is just a technique or prompt – the experience is that the prompt can “run dry” (3) Would you elaborate on how the noting practice is similar or different than the SUT style, In particular in the establishing of continuity (4) Are there times when it would be skillful our response to objects to be compassion or loving kindness in addition to equanimity? (5)Is it ever useful to follow the train of a thought, to see where it leads? That is, to explore the actual content, not just to note and/or dismiss it as “thinking.”
